PHOTO GALLERY

Welcome to my Photo Gallery. Over the years I have accumulated a few photographs covering a wide variety of subjects, in both B&W and color. This section of my web site is for a few of my photographs that may not fall into the other categories. These include some location and travel images, some from other projects, and some photos that I just plain like. I add some relevant information under the photographs, if I think you may find it interesting.

[Prague Castle]

The lead photograph in this Gallery is an image of the Charles Bridge and Castle in Prague, Czech Republic. It was a time exposure, taken at twilight, and is my favorite photo of that beautiful city. The distant lights and the deep blue sky at twilight that evening were simply gorgeous. This photograph was taken from the far shore, and for stability I had the camera sitting on a concrete pillar along the side of the river. I used the time delay in the camera, since I did not want to chance movement even using a cable release. The exposure was approximately 10 seconds in length, although some bracketing was done and several exposures came out well. The timing had to be coordinated with passing trucks on the closeby road, which shook the ground around me and the pillar as well.

[Prague Rooftops]

"Prague Rooftops, Czech Republic" / If you would turn 180 degrees away from the Castle in the center of the Charles Bridge, you would see some of the fascinating rooftops of ancient buildings in the city of Prague. This image has an added texture to the image similar to what you would experience if you would view it on a heavily textured art print paper.

[Golden Gate Bridge]

"The Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset, San Francisco" / The pink sky and the framing by trees and bushes help to make this photograph. It adds to the mood and feeling of a beautiful and interesting city.

[Aruba]

"Aruba Sunset" / We traveled to Aruba in October of 2005. This photo was taken from our balcony the day of our arrival..

[Tux]

"Washington Monument at Night" / This is a time exposure taken of the Washington Monument on a very still evening. There was not even a ripple in the waters of the Reflecting Pool.

[Tux]

"General Store, New Hampshire" /Photograph of a general store we came upon while driving in New Hampshire. The photo was taken with a 4x5 view camera, and then scanned into the computer.

[Tux]

"Tux" / A high contrast derivation from a 35mm B&W photograph of one of our cats, Tuxedo ("Tux" for short, due to his markings). This special effect was made with lithographic (high contrast) film, from a film negative, and them scanned into the computer.

[Lorre]

"Lorre" / Lorre was an aerobics instructor who had gotten into exceptional body condition for an aerobics competition, and needed some photographs. Her excellent muscle definition was emphasized by the use of cross lighting. The poses we captured seemed to come natural to her, and she fell into one right after another, with almost unlimited energy.

[Guitar Man]

"Guitar Man" / This photograph was developed for a CD cover, for an album under consideration. It was taken in the studio with conventional lighting, with some alterations in PhotoshopŠ.

[Allison]

"Allison" / Allison was a friend of a model who came in for a test shoot. She decided that she would like to test as well. As you can see her test went well.

[Sarah]

"Golden Girl" / Sarah was an inexperienced model who needed some portfolio photographs. When I saw her I was impressed with the bone structure of her face. After doing her makeup I set up and took this photograph, which I feel looks like a Hollywood movie star from years gone by.

[Self Portrait]

"Self Portrait" / Finally, I needed a portrait of myself. I set up a camera on a tripod and connected it to a long air-operated bulb release. The lighting was a single soft box at camera right. Next I put the largest lens I had (a Nikon 85mm f1.4) to a second camera, and took this photograph.

I hope that you have enjoyed my Gallery Section. I will be adding more of my Gallery photographs at various times as I get them ready, so do come back and visit me every so often. You can continue on to the Washington School of Photography (or WSP) Section, which has additional information on the school, including information on some of the workshops that I teach there. It also contains a link to the WSP web site, which contains information on all of the classes and workshops taught at the school. But, before you go to the WSP Section, please take a few seconds and view my guestbook and write a note if you would like to communicate with me. Thanks
