Following is a description of the kinds of music that the band enjoys playing, plus some additional information about them and their previous gigs. Below this information are photographs of the band at several of their recent performances.
Their next performance will be a dance, held on Saturday evening, April 10th, 2010 to be held at the Christ Congregational Church, 9525 Colesville Road,Silver Spring, MD, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. This is the postponed annual Valentines Day Dance", from February. Everybody is welcome. There is a modest charge at the door, to benefit the church that provides them with rehearsal space. I hope to see you there.

Big Band Tradition
History
The Big Band
Tradition has its roots in a small band founded by Christ Congregational Church
members in the early 1970's. It
was reestablished as a big band in 1994 to perform at Martin's Crosswinds for
CCC's 50th anniversary.
Size
Under the leadership of
Chuck O'Connor, it has grown into a full-sized band with 18 members. It includes five saxophones, four or
five trumpets, four trombones, piano, bass, drums, and vocalist.
Members
Band members are varied in
age, live throughout the metropolitan area, and are from all walks of
life. Several also play
professionally in other musical groups.

Big Band Tradition has an
extensive library of concert and dance arrangements that span dance styles and
tempos from before the Swing Era to the present.
Rehearsals
If you'd like to come to
listen, you're welcome to contact the director. The band rehearses regularly on Tuesday evenings from 8:30
to 10:00 at
